About Us

Mission Statement
The Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy family exists to show children Jesus, nurture their love for Him and others, teach them to think, and empower them to serve.

Our Philosophy
The Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide a spiritually oriented education for children. A belief in the existence of the Creator God is fundamental in the philosophy of Seventh-day Adventist schools. We respect His divine authority and recognize His intervention in human affairs. We believe that true education develops the spiritual, mental, and physical powers of each student; preparing them for the joy of service in this life and for the higher joy of service in the life to come. To achieve this goal, we encourage each student to:

  • develop a personal relationship with God and his fellow men as stated in Matthew 2:37-39
  • master the basic academic skills
  • value labor, physical and mental, as the blessing God intended
  • cultivate physical fitness, mental ability, and moral purity as the blessing God intended.

The Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy is operated in harmony with the guidance and direction of the Office of Education, North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Location

Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy is situated in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, easily reached by students from Contra Costa, Solano, Alameda, and Napa Counties. The combination of the surrounding city and peaceful campus makes this school ideal for all levels of education.

School History
Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy was established in 1952 as Pleasant Hill Junior Academy. It became Pleasant Hill Christian School when it became a 12 grade school in 1998. Becoming operationally independent and fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in 2003, it changed its name to Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy. It is a part of the Northern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists educational system.

College Preparation
Quality education is the goal at PHAA. Students receive a WASC-accredited education from kindergarten to senior graduation. Two diplomas are offered, standard and college-preparatory. PHAA works hand-in-hand with the Adventist colleges to guarantee college success.

Accreditation
Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy is fully accredited with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. We are also approved by the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges and Universities, which is recognized by the National Council for Private School Accreditation.
